My artifact is a vase but not any vase it's a vase that has a amazing handle design. I made it with my beer hands with clay, and a hole in the middle for a scroll with heaps of information about pole vaulting. I has to find heaps of pages of notes. I Had to use my perseverance muscle to do this peace of art. I have been learning about how to write a report but luckily for me, I had some information that I already written down that I could use, but the tricky part was to make the Introduction and the conclusion from scratch. Here some photos of my artifact.

I am proud of my self because I used revising muscle to go back and make changes to complete my learning task. The thing that challenged me was getting the lines to the middle because you had to get it in the right spot or it would look weird. I had to use my noticing muscle to get the task done because I had to look at were I needed to fix something up.
Matariki
Everyone in Totara Whanau has been learning about matariki. Matariki is the Maori New Year. The main thing about Matariki is that it's the 7 stars. In the Maori culture, activities are one of the main thing they do because there was no TV no computers no Ipod or Ipads there was nothing but their hands and sticks and stones. On matariki me and Totara Whanau did some thing that the Maori people do like make kite's and do cooking to celebrate Maori New year. I did cooking for the whole hub but I had other kids doing it as well and parents to help and the fellow kids. We made fri-bread and fish pie, it was a lot of fun and good experience being a chef.

Bread writing
Procedural writing.
WALT write instructions for the reader to follow
Success Criteria
Give an explanation about how the instructions will help you (introduction)
Write an equipment or ingredients list
Begin each instruction with a verb (an action word)
Use specific vocabulary
Order instructions so they are easy to follow
Introduction:
One day I got very hungry because my fat grandma ate all the bread so I made my own for me.
Did you know that in the old days the people used to use a scythe and a sickle. Also, did you know that bread is very healthy because of all the vitamins and minerals in it. Did you know that there are many different types of bread in different countries?
Ingredients
1 Tbsp white sugar
1 Tsp oil
Half cup warm not hot water
1 third of cup of flour
1 tsp yeast
Method
Grab a bowl and carefully place the white sugar, yeast and flour and stir until it looks like flour again.
Pour in the oil and warm not hot water and stir.
Knead for approximately 1 and a half minutes.
Shape the dough into what you want.
Leave for 30 minutes to rise under a towel.
Wrap the dough in baking paper and place it in the oven for about 25 to 30 minutes.
The thing that challenged me the most was the verbs because I didn't know what to do for the verbs at the start it made my brain think. I learnt what a verb was.

How to look after a broken collarbone
How to look after a broken collarbone.
Have you ever had a broken collarbone?
A collarbone is also called the clavicle that is the fancy name for it. Did you know that the collarbone is the only bone that is connected to your arm excpect if it’s muscle. Also did you know you can’t have a cast on your broken collarbone because it will hurt your broken collarbone.
Things you need for a broken collarbone
- A sling
- Someone willing to help you for the first couple of days until you get used to it
- A patient patient
- Go to the doctors to get an x-ray to see what it looks like. If the x-ray shows it broken this is what you do.
- Hold your arm very still and a doctor will give you a sling.
- Take some Pamol to stop it from hurting so bad.
- Use the arm that you didn’t break.
- Wait about 3 weeks you can sleep with the sling off and at the 4 week mark you can take the sling off for good.
Carefully start to play at the 2 week mark but be warned life has its consequences.
I will show you two photos one is me with a sling on and another of an x-ray of a broken collarbone.
I'm proud of my self because I persevered when learning got tough.
The thing that challenged me was to get my verbs in.

My brokencollar bone
On the ester holidays 2016 I broke my collarbone also know as the clavicle. Well i’ll tell you the story. So it was Saturday morning but for some reason we were doing rugby training instead of Friday afternoon, it was going great until it was tackle bull rush. We started to play got through a few times, then I got tackled and then the other people got tackled round one went past fast. The next round started a few kids went by, Noah my friend got tackled and he picked me to run, so I did I almost got there but I was getting held back by Noah and two other kids and then a kid called Cliche tackled me at the wrong time and SNAP!!! And that’s the story of how I broke my collar bone.
Because I have broke my collar bone I now have to adapted to my new way of learning for a few weeks.
Here is a photo of me in my sling.

Camp Omatua

My favorite bit of camp was the chocolate game when we had to roll a 6 on the dice then we would put two bits of clothing and a spider man glove and grab a knife and fork and cut one peace (piece) of chocolate before someone else rolls a 6. I like eating chocolate it's a risen (reason) why I picked the chocolate game.
A highlight from camp was that it was my birthday on camp and I enjoyed every second of it because I got a lot of happy birthdays. and a minute true cake from Mrs Hill one of my teachers even though it was a lollipop with a marshmallow on the bottom of the stick but it was worth it.

My fav book
I am proud of my self because it was challenging but it was worth it and I feel very proud of my self for using feedback from my teacher. Some thing that challenged me was what book I wanted to do because I like a lot of books. Also I found it tricky to share detail about the characters. I really enjoyed doing this book and sharing it to the world. I hope you want to read it. READ IT NOW!

Board Games
I have been learning about board games for the start of my life. I am proud of my self for completing my task because it was changeling. Something that challenged me was writing because I had to do my writing on paper instead of doing it on my laptop.

My calendar art
WALT present a piece of artwork for our parents to buy.
Success Criteria
- Take our time, show patience (GRIT)
- Plan our piece of artwork
- Take care with the painting and dyeing
- Research for our inspiration
- Explain the steps you took to make your artwork on your blog
- How do you feel about your artwork?
- What was a challenge?
My calendar art
Our calendar art we are doing in room 12 is about hand prints and footprints.
This is how you do it:
Think about a thing you want to do.
- Make sure you practice first
- Get the things you want to use on it like dye, paint, pencil, paper, coloring pencils and a bucket of a water for washing your feet or hands.
- Get a piece of paper and draw your background, then dye it.
- Get the paint you want to use and put it where you want it on your hands or your feet.
- Let it dry and if you want you can put some features on it.
Here is a photo of mine that I did.
My challenge was to not go over the lines because there was two, it was OK if I got the brown pencil over one but if I got it over the other I would have to restart.
I felt very proud of myself to finish. My Mum is keeping the diary for herself, she liked it and there is now a calendar at my Dad’s.
This picture is my inspiration.

Animal Band Readers Theater - term 3 week 7
Animal band
WALT perform to an audience.
Success Criteria:
Success Criteria:
- speak clearly
- speak loudly
- with expression
- stay in time
On September the 4th 2015, my class and I did our assembly item, it had taken a long time to be good enough to perform to the rest of the school.
I was a reader with Thomas and Beau, it was hard because I had the second most lines. (The part who had the most lines was the donkeys.)
When the kids came in the hall for assembly, I felt a bit nerves because it's scary when six - hundred (600) faces are looking at you but after that I was OK.
Now here's a photo of me and one of me with Tom and Beau.

We should have fewer days at school
I strongly believe that we should have fewer days at school.
In my opinion we should have fewer days at school because it will benefit students, teachers and parents. Kids want to have more fun, for example kids can learn a new hobby. Sometimes we can remember more if we have fun while we are learning.
Another point is teachers would value time away from students, so they can think about ideas and topics that they can teach their students. Evidence shows it’s good that teachers learn as well as them teaching.
Finally both adults enjoy spending time with their children, parents could take their children farther away for a long weekend, for example going on a trip like to Auckland and going to the sky tower, Rangitoto and ice skating.
Therefore I think that fewer days of school would benefit students, teachers and parents.

City life is better than country life
I believe that city life is better than country life.
There are three main reasons to support my argument
First, In the county it is harder to raise a baby than in the city because you have to buy all the baby's things like a cot and a milk bottle and normally country people are poor.
Another reason is in the city the shops are just around the corner but in the country you have to drive all the way to the city to get your food and it uses a lot of petrol so it uses a lot of your money, it’s better off living in the city.
Finally in a bigger school you can have more opportunities to play sport for your school than in smaller schools, they have less opportunities to play sport for your school.
Therefore I strongly believe city life is better than country life.

Ben 10 is a kid like us but he is a bit different then us because when he was 10 he had to go to a summer camp with his grandpa and his cousin queen. Ben thought it was going to be the worst summer ever, but one night he came out of the tent that he was sleeping in next to the van. He saw an asteroid coming down from outer space and Ben followed it and when he saw it, he thought it was a ball, but the ball opened and Ben saw a watch. The watch jumped on Ben's arm and after that he called it the optometrists, after he got use to it and found out how to work it, he started to save the world. Here are his aliens that he can turn into from his watch, here they are.

My Lolly for the Grubber Shop - Week 5
My lolly that I thought you might like...
This one is my very favourite one called the Zig Zag Zoomer and it looks like a lightning strike with a death skull going round and round the lolly.
When you touch it, you get a tazer shock and it makes the sound of thunder.
When you touch it, you get a tazer shock and it makes the sound of thunder.
It costs $10 for a little jar or $20 for a big jar.
You need to have a license to eat them though.
When you eat them you zig zag like crazy, you zig zag as fast as lightning.
