My artafact

My artifact is a vase but not any vase it's a vase that has a amazing handle design. I made it with my beer hands with clay, and a hole in the middle for a scroll with heaps of information about pole vaulting. I has to find heaps of pages of notes. I Had to use my perseverance muscle to do this peace of art. I have been learning about how to write a report but luckily for me, I had some information that I already written down that I could use, but the tricky part was to make the Introduction and the conclusion from scratch. Matariki

Everyone in Totara Whanau has been learning about matariki. Matariki is the Maori New Year. The main thing about Matariki is that it's the 7 stars. In the Maori culture, activities are one of the main thing they do because there was no TV no computers no Ipod or Ipads there was nothing but their hands and sticks and stones. On matariki me and Totara Whanau did some thing that the Maori people do like make kite's and do cooking to celebrate Maori New year. I did cooking for the whole hub but I had other kids doing it as well and parents to help and the fellow kids. We made fri-bread and fish pie, it was a lot of fun and good experience being a chef.

How to look after a broken collarbone.

Have you ever had a broken collarbone?

A collarbone is also called the clavicle that is the fancy name for it. Did you know that the collarbone is the only bone that is connected to your arm excpect if it’s muscle. Also did you know you can’t have a cast on your broken collarbone because it will hurt your broken collarbone.

Things you need for a broken collarbone

• A sling
• Someone willing to help you for the first couple of days until you get used to it
• A patient patient

1. Go to the doctors to get an x-ray to see what it looks like. If  the x-ray shows it broken this is what you do.
2. Hold your arm very still and a doctor will give you a sling.
3. Take some Pamol to stop it from hurting so bad.
4. Use the arm that you didn’t break.
5. Wait about 3 weeks you can sleep with the sling off and at the 4 week mark you can take the sling off for good.

Carefully start to play at the 2 week mark but be warned life has its consequences.

I'm proud of my self because I persevered when learning got tough.

The thing that challenged me was to get my verbs in.

Vocabulary

I have been working on vocabulary word because it was one of my leaning tarsk. I know I have to use clues to work out what words mean. The clues are in the text and sometimes in the word. I lernt that it that every fore(four) years the moon goes in front of the sun making it the not be abale(able) to see earth making the earth dark.

The Great water slide

I was at the biggest baddest water slide ever and it’s name was the slide of Life and Death. In a normal theme park many people have died on the slide but many have survived.  If you survive you can’t tell the tale of what it was like. It was going to be my turn soon, finally it was my turn I felt so scared I would go back down, but the rules where you can’t go back. Finally it was my turn, nervously shoving myself off I started to zoom down the slide with great speed going faster and faster down the slide. I thought I saw the end of the slide but it was a jump I screamed like a little girl. Thinking that I would die my heart was beating as fast as a cheater I lay down on my back trying to go faster, then I leaped off the air like a hawk soaring through the sky with great speed. Still screaming like a little girl I landed with a thump!. All my screams turned into a very loud ouch! My bottom didn't get hurt because it was two inches thick. You might think it’s the end but it’s not, still on the slide it was time for the two meter drop. With a splash in the shape of a bomb. Hitting the water surface I started to go as fast as I could I swam to the side of the two meter deep pool and I shouted out loud “Again”!

Now I want to share with you five vocabulary words in my writing:Zoom,Soaring,Thump,splash and nervously.

Camp Omatua

Camp Omatua and Weka Point was very exciting and also a little bit challenging. It was a little bit different for me because it was my birthday on camp.

Something that challenged me was fear factor because you had to put something in your mouth with a description trying to trick us for thinking it was something gross like the poo that was aterly (actually)chocolate in a little plastic cup or the time when Mrs Hill said that it was a star fish that ate a lot of sand when it was a fig that's a type of fruit + you were blind folded and it was scary. 


My favorite bit of camp was the chocolate game when we had to roll a 6 on the dice then we would put two bits of clothing and a spider man glove and grab a knife and fork and cut one peace (piece) of chocolate before someone else rolls a 6. I like eating chocolate it's a risen (reason) why I picked the chocolate game.


A highlight from camp was that it was my birthday on camp and I enjoyed every second of it because I got a lot of happy birthdays. and a minute true cake from Mrs Hill one of my teachers even though it was a lollipop with a marshmallow on the bottom of the stick but it was worth it.

My fav book

I am proud of my self because it was challenging but it was worth it and I feel very proud of my self for using feedback from my teacher. Some thing that challenged me was what book I wanted to do because I like a lot of books. Also I found it tricky to share detail about the characters. I really enjoyed doing this book and sharing it to the world. I hope you want to read it. READ IT NOW!

Board Games

I have been learning about board games for the start of my life. I am proud of my self for completing my task because it was changeling. Something that challenged me was writing because I had to do my writing on paper instead of doing it on my laptop.

My calendar art

Our calendar art we are doing in room 12 is about hand prints and footprints.

This is how you do it:

Think about a thing you want to do.

1. Make sure you practice first
2. Get the things you want to use on it like dye, paint, pencil, paper, coloring pencils and a bucket of a water for washing your feet or hands.
3. Get a piece of paper and draw your background, then dye it.
4. Get the paint you want to use and put it where you want it on your hands or your feet.
5. Let it dry and if you want you can put some features on it.

Here is a photo of mine that I did.

My challenge was to not go over the lines because there was two, it was OK if I got the brown pencil over one but if I got it over the other I would have to restart.

I felt very proud of myself to finish.  My Mum is keeping the diary for herself, she liked it and there is now a calendar at my Dad’s.

This picture is my inspiration.

Animal Band Readers Theater - term 3 week 7

On September the 4th 2015, my class and I did our assembly item, it had taken a long time to be good enough to perform to the rest of the school. 
I was a reader with Thomas and Beau, it was hard because I had the second most lines. (The part who had the most lines was the donkeys.) 
When the kids came in the hall for assembly, I felt a bit nerves because it's scary when six - hundred (600) faces are looking at you but after that I was OK.

Ben 10 - Week 8

Ben 10 is a kid like us but he is a bit different then us because when he was 10 he had to go to a summer camp with his grandpa and his cousin queen.  Ben thought it was going to be the worst summer ever, but one night he came out of the tent that he was sleeping in next to the van.  He saw an asteroid coming down from outer space and Ben followed it and when he saw it, he thought it was a ball, but the ball opened and Ben saw a watch.  The watch jumped on Ben's arm and after that he called it the optometrists, after he got use to it and found out how to work it, he started to save the world.  Here are his aliens that he can turn into from his watch, here they are.

Area - week 6

What is area?
Area is the space around you, underneath you and above you.
It is the total number of square units inside a shape, that is the thing you need to know.
In the real world we need area to build home or measuring how big your rug can be or how big your tiles have to be to fit in the right place.
Did you know that rows go right across and column mean come on down.
Length x width = Area or columns + rows = Area.

My Lolly for the Grubber Shop - Week 5

My lolly that I thought you might like...

This one is my very favourite one called the Zig Zag Zoomer and it looks like a lightning strike with a death skull going round and round the lolly. 
When you touch it, you get a tazer shock and it makes the sound of thunder.

It costs $10 for a little jar or $20 for a big jar.

You need to have a license to eat them though.

When you eat them you zig zag like crazy, you zig zag as fast as lightning.

The Summarizing Strategy - week 4

We are learning how to summarize in room 12.

Mostly you can find key words in books. 

You can't copy someones work or that is called plagiarism.

Key words can help you make sentences.

These are some keywords:

Here is the sentence:
Charlie is a homing pigeon and is going to his first race of the season racing other pigeons.

Kiwis - Week 1

Kiwis are native birds that only live in New Zealand.  

Did you know that kiwis have a really small wing? 

Even though they have wings they can’t fly at all.

They have quite a lot of predators like stoats, possums dogs, cats and more.

A kiwi can live at least between 25 to 50 years old.

Hi, I am the lion from the wizard of oz and I am here to tell you about me.  I look deadly, furry and strong.
His characteristics are kind, nice and generous. 
His actions are clean, nice and life saving.

Swimming Reflection

I learned how to…be swimming and breathe at the same time.

Something I found challenging was…nothing

At the end of the year I would like to improve on…straight arms and diving/

Mrs Miller, Mr Kenny or Mrs Lowe could help me by…teaching me diving and straight arms.

The best part about swimming was… when we got to use the life jackets.

My New Buddy from Room 6 and 7

We went to our new buddy class room 6 and 7.

My new buddy is called Deakahn and he is 6 years old and Deakahn is super fast for a little kid.

Black Shadow

My super heroes name is…Black Shadow and he lives in an underground fortress with his young justice team.  the underground fortress is very clean and tidy with heaps of fighting gadgets.

He looks so cool but he is deadly.  He has a Spiderman mask and he is an archer with bulletproof top and pants with a demon tail and a fiery fist.  He has a belt with a flaming sword.

His characteristics are really nice and he’s way cool and has saved his plants.

His actions are very nice and he will risk his life for another person.
